Although the weather outside is, indeed, frightful at just 14 degrees, we wouldn’t have it any other way. We made it home safely and celebrated the holidays with family and friends. The area has a bit of snow on the ground to give it the holiday feel, despite arriving a few days after Christmas. Winter, believe it or not, is a welcome change.
We have been hitting a few favorite restaurants that we miss (Panera, Indian Harvest, Buffalo Wild Wings) attempting to balance economic contributions to hard hit industries with appropriate precautions and safeguards against the seemingly incessant variants going around. Portillo’s hit the spot on our first full day back, ranking just under getting our winter clothes from the storage locker.
Medical checks (dentist, annual physicals, etc.) are almost complete and we are still taking delivery of a few replacement/new toys to help us capture our travels in 2022. As I write this, I am sipping from a new 32 oz. Iron Flask insulated water bottle as VRBOs don’t typically have thermos style drink containers and the ice melts waaay to quickly. We have actually had to buy our own ice trays in several locations due to spotty ice makers…but, first world problems. All in all, we have been very blessed/lucky.
Hopefully, the writing and videos will be a bit more regular this year. Other 2022 resolutions/goals include Bonaire residency and long-term housing! Stay tuned for updates on those. Stay warm if your up here and stay cool for all our Caribbean friends. We will be back down there at the end of the month! 🙂
