Well, after a false start in terms of documentation last year, we received our residency stamps from the Bonaire immigration office this week. Yeah!
Overall, the process was fairly easy, especially with the help of Agnes Joosten. She met with us last year and gave us a list of needed documentation. Several items need to get apostille stamps which was especially fun given that some had three month timelines while others six month timelines and, coming from different government agencies…coordination was a challenge.
Ultimately, the stars aligned over the holidays and Agnes scheduled our appointment for this week. We flew in from Curaçao and she completed all of the paperwork for us and handled the entire conversation with immigration. We now have updated documentation in our passports. When we get to Bonaire in June (permanently), we will apply for local ID cards, get bank accounts, etc. So much progress!
Next up…permanent housing.
