POTW May 2021 / Week 1

After 6 weeks in lockdown in Curacao, David and I relocated 2 weeks early to Bonaire in order to get back in the water. With only a few dives this week, I had a limited opportunity to capture images for POTW consideration, but fortunately I was lucky enough to have some unique encounters, including this jellyfish. David and I had noticed a large number of Spot Winged Comb Jellies that were floating in the water. In addition to just floating around, these jelly were serving as a source of food for Surgeonfish, Tangs, and Puffers. While observing the Spot Winged jellies, I noticed this other (unidentified) jelly and fired off a few shots. Fortunately the jellyfish was large enough and the light was just right, so I was able to focus on this transparent creature.

Equipment and settings: Nikon D850 / 60mm / INON z330 strobes / f13/ 1/200th / ISO 200.

POTW October 2023 | Week 1

This week's Photo of the Week is a pretty common critter - a Banded Coral Shrimp - however it's not so common after all since her belly is covered in hundreds of tiny blue eggs. It's very easy to dismiss common critters, but if you move slowly and look closely, you...
