Although Aruba is not known for its shore diving, David and I found some great sites for shore diving and were not disappointed with the marine life that we encountered. Hands down or favorite site is Tres Trapi (or 3 Steps). With a maximum depth of 20 feet, you wouldn’t think this would be a great diving site, but David and I encountered so many new (to us) marine critters and the shallow depth meant our bottom time was typically 90 minutes or more. My favorite area at Tres Trapi is “the block”, a cement block approximately 50 feet off shore. The block is teeming with life including loads of juvenile fish and crustaceans, eels, frog fish, clams etc. David’s favorite area is the wall where you will find so much life including schools of fish, cephalopods, loads of fireworms, lobster families and so much more. In addition to Tres Trapi, our shore dives included Rocky Beach (aka Hole in the Wall), Mangel Halto and Savaneta. I will refrain from including Arashi Reef in our list of dive sites because IMO this is NOT a shore dive even though we did dive it once from the shore.

Below are my favorite photos from our shore dives. I hope you enjoy.
